MCP Server usage metrics

Contrast tracks usage of the hosted MCP server so organization administrators can measure developer adoption and demonstrate return on investment. Usage metrics show which developers are actively using the MCP server, how often they use it, and which tools they call.

Note

Usage metrics apply to the hosted MCP server only. Local MCP server installations do not report usage data

What is tracked

Contrast captures the following data for each MCP server request:

  • Organization ID: The customer organization making the request

  • User ID: The individual developer making the request

  • API operation: The specific MCP tool or endpoint called

Contrast tracks actual usage (API calls made through the MCP server). Installation alone is not tracked; metrics begin when a developer makes their first call.

Available metrics

Metrics are grouped by priority. All metrics are available in weekly and monthly views.
