Platform Administrator workflows

As a platform administrator, you're not triaging findings, you're making sure the platform itself is set up so everyone else's findings, roles, and integrations behave the way your organization needs them to. This page covers the configuration, access, and policy work that keeps Northstar running for your organization.

Your role in Northstar

Northstar splits platform-level responsibility across two roles:

Organization Administrators configure settings for a specific organization: users, security policy, agent keys, SSO, and defaults for servers and applications.

RulesAdmins own policy management: Protect rules, IP allow and deny lists, CVE shields, application exclusions, and sensitive data masking.

Many platform administrators hold both, but it's worth knowing which actions require which role when you're troubleshooting access.

Where AppSec configures rules for the applications they own, you're setting the organization-wide defaults and guardrails everyone else inherits.
