Add exclusions for incidents (Northstar)

Use this procedure to create an application exclusion for a specific incident in the Incidents view.

You can also add exclusions for a specific application from the Explorer.

Steps

  1. From the left navigation, select Incidents.

  2. Select an incident.

  3. In the Containment actions section, select Add exclusion.

  4. Specify the exclusion details:

    Add application exclusions (Northstar) provides details and examples for specifying exclusions.

    • Name: The name of the exclusion

    • Exclusion type: The type of exclusion: Code, Input, URL, Queue/topic

      • Java and .NET agents support code exclusions.

      • Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, Ruby, and Go agents support input exclusions.

      • Java, .NET, Node,js, Python, and Ruby agents support URL exclusions.

      • Java and .NET Core agents support queue/topic (message queue) exclusions.

    • Input type: The type of input to exclude: Parameter, Header, Query string, Body, or Cookie

    • Input name: A name for the input

    • Applied URLs: URLs that should be ignored by certain rules

    • Applicable rules: The rules that the exclusion affects

  5. Select Add.
