Deployment Hub for platform onboard

This quick guide will help you get the platform set up and running while using the Deployment Hub wizard. The steps are actions carried out during the deployment of the platform setup. Refer to the links and videos in each step for deeper dives into any topic.

Before you begin

Make sure you have everything you need before you start.

  • The agent will need to be able to reach your Contrast instance. It can be a local/on-premise instance or a hosted instance. A proxy can be configured if the environment has limited network access.

  • Confirm your administrator user permissions are enabled and assigned a role to ensure appropriate visibility within the system

Get started

  1. Follow the instructions provided in the welcome email to complete the registration process and get access to Contrast Security.

  2. Select Deployment Hub in the header to open the step-by-step wizard.

  3. Work through the steps to complete the platform onboarding.

Complete the steps to set up the platform. When all the steps are done, select Mark complete to

  • Create resource groups: Categorize and group your resources within the Role-based access control environment. This helps specify the applications, projects, and organization settings that users can access, based on their assigned roles. Learn more about Resource groups.

  • Assign roles: Formulate and implement custom roles to administer user permissions across your organization. This helps define the applications, projects, and organization settings that users with a specific role can access. Learn more about Roles.

  • Define user access groups: Organize users into distinct access groups based on the previously defined roles and permissions. This helps specific roles and resource groups for one or more users. Learn more about User access groups.

  • Add new users: Onboard individual users and assign them to the appropriate user access groups. Add users to the Users list and assign them to specific user access groups. Learn more about Users.

  • Application metadata: Enter all pertinent information and configurations for your applications in the designated fields. Configure requests for application metadata to be collected whenever a new application is added to Contrast. Learn more about Application metadata.

  • Integrations: Select supported integrations to streamline workflows, improve visibility, and accelerate incident response. Learn more about Integrations.

  • Compliance policies: Define compliance policies for application compliance within your organization. Learn more about Compliance policy.

  • Library compliance policy: Manage library compliance policy at the system level. Learn more about Library compliance policy.

  • Vulnerability management policy: Let administrators with Organization RulesAdmin or Organization Administrator roles define a set of criteria that, when triggered, either changes the status of a vulnerability or flags it for review. Learn more about Vulnerability management policy.

  • Sensitive data policy: Limits risk to your organization and helps meet compliance requirements. Learn more about Sensitive data policy.

Create task

Assign the tasks for agent deployments.

  1. Select the +Create task button at the upper-right.

  2. Enter the task name.

  3. Assign the task to a designated user, establish a due date, and select the requisite technologies.

  4. Add metadata as required.

  5. Select the Create task button to assign the task.

Emails are sent to the assigned user to alert them of the required task.

Manage tasks

When tasks are assigned, the status of each task can be viewed on the Tasks table. Tasks can be edited, duplicated, and deleted and assigned users will be alerted of the changes.

Examine the newly generated task to ensure all parameters are correctly configured and presented.

Select Task complete when the task work is approved and ready to close.
